Over the years, our political leaders have convinced of us two things that are absolutely false:
1. That our government is no different from that in other states. In truth, Pennsylvania is much worse.
2. That we citizens are powerless to change things for the better. In truth, we can replace bad government with good government whenever we make up our minds to do it.
The first step toward having the best state government in America, is to get rid of the excuses and start expecting better of our political leaders - and ourselves!
Excuse: "The political culture in Harrisburg has always resisted good government, and that culture won't change no matter what I do." A Cumberland County citizen.
Excuse: "All politicians are alike. There's no difference between them." A Montgomery County citizen.
Excuse: "My vote won't make a difference." A Westmoreland County citizen.
